Solana is a layer-1 smart contract platform featuring high throughput and low transaction costs. The project originated in 2017 when founder Anatoly Yakovenko proposed a whitepaper draft with a new timekeeping technique for distributed systems called proof of history (PoH), which underpins the Solana network today.
The Solana network can process over 65,000 transactions per second, with each transaction being relatively low-cost and settling almost instantaneously. Its ecosystem hosts various projects across multiple categories, including banking and payments, data and analytics, wallet and browser, gaming and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), decentralized finance (DeFi), and infrastructure.
The gives investors access to this exciting new asset class in a simple, secure and low-cost way through regulated, major European markets.
